Joss or Schon? For those of you that own a Joss, how does the hit compare to a Schon? Thanks for your response. |

Nothing at all wrong with Joss, I still have one...just that for me the Schon has a nicer hit, meaning the shafts just seem more dense and have better feedback (I can feel the shot at impact better than the Joss). Both shoot pretty stiff, which I prefer. I'd have to check, but the balance is a little different, can't remember how, I think Schon might be a little more foward. Find youself one of the older ones...like pre-1993. They are solid players and will last for years to come. I never bought a Schon, but the ones I used seemed to have more recognizable "ping" to their hit than my Joss's. Hard to explain...but I always felt the Joss hit was crisper. My shafts are the old dark maple ones, not the "white" clean shafts they make now. For that reason more than anything get an older cue with darker maple shafts. They both play very well, but I seem to be able to feel the hit, just a bit more with my Schön. I may be prejudiced, based on the fact that my Schön is more pleasing to my eyes, than any of the Joss cues I have run across. If you like the hit of those 2 cues, you might also consider a Pechauer with steel collar. The Ebony one I currently own has a hit in between the Joss and Schön. |

I like the older ones alot. Both types. Both seemed, to me, to just "feel" a ton better. I'm not a fan of the newer cues from either line. I agree, wholeheartedly, with JossFan. The older Joss cues play great. So do the older Schons. I would, personally, be happy with either one from that particular era. |

Is it possible that the older cues play better because the wood has aged longer then a new cue? I hear that statement that the older Joss and Schons play better quite often. My Pechauer is 6 years old but I have only had it about a year. New cue-Schmelke custom Bocote merry widow Willie said I will only say this...when I beat Ralph, they would say it was because he was drinking....but every time he beat me, he was drinking too.
