It is indeed yet more heartache for Scotland.

They came into this tournament, and tonight, with hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time in the country's history.

Well, those dreams were crushed in the 10th minute of stoppage time when Kevin Csoboth swept home for Hungary on the counter-attack.

In Frankfurt, Niclas Fullkrug saved the day for Germany to earn them a point against Switzerland in added time.

It means they top Group A with seven points, while Switzerland qualify for the round of 16 with five.

Hungary still have a slight chance of qualification, but they need various results to go their way.

You know what that means... Scotland finish bottom.

Dominik Szoboszlai swapped his shirt at full-time with one adorning the name of his injured teammate Barnabus Varga.

The Hungarian skipper was seen in tears at the time of the incident, it unsurprisingly scared him.

Such a little gesture like this at the end of a match to show support is so lovely.

I'll answer. Yes, they should have.

On the balance of play, Scotland did not deserve to win tonight, they only started pushing as they got more desperate.

But they can feel hard done by that they were not awarded a spot kick just over ten minutes from time.

Don't know what I am talking about? Well, substitute Stuart Armstrong was away in the area before he was brought down by Willy Orban.

I have watched the clip several times, and still don't know how it wasn't given.

This was a lovely gesture from Kevin Csoboth.

After arising from the pile-on that followed his last-gasp winner, Csoboth was given the shirt of Barnabas Varga - who suffered a scary head injury.

They will be undoubtedly worried about the well-being of their compatriot.

Look at all the Scotland players, they are all busting a gut to score a late winner, and then comes the sucker punch.

It's a brilliant breakaway and Kevin Csoboth is in the right place at the right time.

Getting knocked out of tournament football is never nice, but that is a devastating way for it to happen.

All hands were at the pump for Scotland, they looked like they were about to strike late on.

But it just wasn't to be, instead, they leave Stuttgart devastated like so many Scotland teams before them.

Well, was anybody expecting this.

Germany find themselves behind in Frankfurt thanks to Dan Ndoye's first international goal for Switzerland.

you can tell this German side are not used to being behind, all their potency faded away after conceding.

They really need this break now. Can they come back firing after it?

Dominik Szoboszlai has half a chance to give Hungary the lead from distance, but he blasts it miles over.,

And there goes the whistle for half-time.

That wasn't the highest quality of football I have ever seen, far from it in truth.

Both sides have struggled to really get going in this one, but Hungary have still fashioned some chances.

Willy Orban had the bets of them, and he should have scored, but it may have been offside anyway.

There is still plenty to play for in this one.

Now that is a nasty challenge.

Andras Schafer is set to race through on goal, but Jack Hendry produces a fabulous tackle to knick the ball from him.

As he gets his leg to the ball, Schafer accidentally stamps on the defender, and he gets a yellow card for his troubles.

Willy Orban, you have to score that!

Dominik Szoboszlai swings in a delightful free-kick into the back post for Orban to attack, he looks set to nod him.

But he can't keep his effort on target, and I really don't know how. It looks like a piece of cake.

Will Hungary rue that missed chance?

The Germany defender will not play part in their round of 16 tie as he has just been booked for a second time in the group stage.

It's a stupid challenge too, he sort of karate kicks Breel Embolo in the air, and goes so high he ends up on his shoulders.

Tah should be a gymnast with spring like that.

Oh my word, Dan Ndoye nearly has another.

The ball is fired up to him on the edge of the area and he flashes the ball across goal and just the wrong side of the post.

It really is so, so close.

Switzerland take a shock lead in Frankfurt and it's Dan Ndoye who has given them it.

He turns in from close range to divert Remo Freuler's cross into the back of the net for his first international goal.

The host nation are stunned.

This game has just been 27 minutes of fouls so far.

Willy Orban now goes into the book, and he can't argue with that one.

The resulting free-kick from Billy Gilmour is poor, and once again Hungary hook the ball clear.

Now that is a harsh booking.

Dan Ndoye is shown a yellow card for a coming together with Antonio Rudiger, and that's really all it was.

He looks shocked, and to be honest, so am I...

Every time I hear the Scottish national anthem, I get shivers and the hair stands up on the back of my neck.

The passion is admirable, and once again the fans in Stuttgart belt it out to the top of their lungs.

It's incredible, there is nothing quite like it.

The Scotland players will certainly be wary of this man.

Dominik Szoboszlai is an extremely talented midfielder on his day, he just hasn't been on it so far this tournament.

That doesn't mean the Liverpool star won't find his form today. As captain at just 23 years of age, he needs to lead from the front and set an example.

Keep an eye out for him, he could cause Scotland all sorts of problems.

Deep down they are probably bricking it, but on the surface, it seems they are having a cracking time.

The Scots are in fine voice. The stands are full to the brim and chants are being screamed at the top of their lungs.

It's how it should be!

I bet the nerves are jangling inside every Scot, right now.

It's a massive night for them, their side, and their country. Win, and history will be on their doorstep.

He has been the pick of the players, in my opinion, the best in the tournament so far.

he has netted against both Scotland and Hungary, but it's been his dazzling skills that have really caught the eye.

Nobody has been able to get near him, he's become the beating heart of this German side.

Will he impress again tonight?

The Stuttgart Arena is filling up and the vibes are immaculate.

We all know the Scotland fans are noisy, but my word, so are the Hungarians.

The stands are full of Hungarians hoping to see their side pull something out of the hat.

And it comes from Switzerland. Surprisingly Xherdan Shaqiri has been dropped after scoring a screamer against Scotland.

Breel Embolo replaces him in what looks to be a slightly different formation, as you'd expect Embolo to play up top.

Hansen is set to continue his recovery from home in what is brilliant news for the Scottish faithful before their big match.

Let’s be honest, they just need to win.

If they draw, it is still technically plausible, but extremely unlikely. They would need lots of other results to go their way.

Scotland can’t let too much come down to chance. Win tonight and they will practically be through. Four points is usually enough for qualification as a third-placed side.

They can technically still finish second, but it would require Switzerland to lose to Germany and a six-goal swing.

So, a squeaky 1-0 will surely do, right?

At the moment they sit bottom of the third-placed team rankings. The top four will qualify, so that is the big aim for the Scots.

It’s certainly achievable.

Not to be outdone by the Germans, the Tartan Army are also enjoying themselves.

Thousands, and thousands of Scotland fans have travelled to Stuttgart for tonight's crunch match, and it looks like they are enjoying themselves.

The Scottish have arguably been the best supporters this tournament, their back of the team has been unmatched.

Just look at the sea of blue, it's a sight to behold.

Now this looks like a right laugh, doesn't it?

It's not surprising that the German party has already started ahead of their clash with Switzerland, I mean, they are already through.

I have seen so many videos circulating of this Saxophonist getting the vibe going in Frankfurt, and I must say, it makes me want to join in.

Just look at the atmosphere, it's incredible.

There is not as much on this game, but don’t let that fool you, it’s still set up to be a belter.

Both Germany and Switzerland have been playing some sublime stuff in recent times, both before and during the tournament.

The hosts have to be the favourites for this game, I mean, they have been in scintillating form so far this tournament.

In fact, they have my backing to go on and win the whole thing. Yep, that’s how good I think they are.

But Switzerland will give them a game, that’s for sure.
